Tulle Tapestry

This is an ongoing series of soft sculptures inspired from geologic features and composed using a combination of couture and quilting techniques. Informed by my background in photography, the composition and movement of these sculptures pulls memories and negatives of landscapes into the positive as forms stretch and twist across the wall. The work considers topography through plastic and is influenced by imagery of flora and fauna cell structures.

Like glitter, these sculptures shift between effect and object through composition and engagement. Installed hovering before a surface or suspended in a room – being light-weight and permeable, the tulle is a plastic membrane linking environment with new materialism. As the work develops, compositions like Flood (2024) consider shifts in landscapes from ecological distruption.
